For vomiting immediately after eating, da huang gan cao tang is indicated.
Vomiting that occurs immediately after eating results from accumulated heat congesting the stomach and intestines. As the intestines are affected this leads to constipation, and as heat flares upward, vomiting. Other manifestations would include scorching pain in the stomach, bitter taste in the mouth, bad breath, dry stools or constipation, short voiding of yellow urine, a red tongue with a thin yellow coating, and forceful slippery pulses.
Da huang, Rhei rhizoma is bitter draining of excess heat and dry stool in the stomach domain.
Da huang descends yang ming and frees Metal from Fire by opening and descending the intestines and expelling pathogens.
Zhi gan cao, Glycyrrhizae radix prep is sweet tonifying and nourishing of all organs but especially the heart.
Zhi gan cao is sweet and mildly warm tonifying and nourishing of yin fluids. It nourishes yin fluids in the tai yin and shao yin. It calms wind in the jue yin.
Zhi gan cao prevents weakening of Earth and yang ming from da huang because it moistens Earth and this prevents excessive drying.
